The Secret of our Semi-Detached Villa in Guardea

In an Umbrian warehouse, a block of white marble waited twenty years before knowing its destiny.

Indeed, every great architectural project hides a story: today we want to tell you about the staircase that is the centerpiece of the Semi-Detached Villa in Guardea.

What strikes you for its apparent simplicity actually required complex design and execution.

It took three different engineers before reaching the optimal solution.

A Hidden Treasure

The staircase is carved from a single, precious block of white Carrara marble, a material that carries with it a special history.

For twenty years, this block was preserved by an expert marble craftsman, who is also the father of our Maria Boccalini.

The true magic?

Each individual step was excavated and shaped by hand, tested with precise flexural tests, and positioned on the steel structure.

On one hand, therefore, we have someone who knew how to recognize and preserve a precious material, waiting for the right moment for its use.

On the other hand, we find the technical expertise and contemporary vision that made it possible to create a functional work of art.

Behind Every Project There’s a Story to Tell

This story reminds us of the importance of preserving and enhancing craftsmanship in contemporary architecture: the collaboration between modern technology and artisanal wisdom can create extraordinary results.

And this is just one of the curiosities that hide behind our projects…
